Independent examination of product samples
Chem Sur is frequently called in for independent examination of, and subsequent reporting on, samples of diverse loads. This might involve a comparison between a load in a land-based tank and one in a ship's tank, but also, for example, checking on whether a tank of oil or gas complies with the values and specifications of the country of destination (e.g. a maximum of x% of ash or another substance).
On-site laboratory work during the drilling of an oil or gas field
Chem Sur is regularly called in during such activities as the drilling of oil or gas, or in connection with new storage methods for environmentally neutral solutions. During such activities, Chem Sur is usually deployed as the party responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of the pressure on the dome of oil or gas. In addition, we examine the fluid that is pumped from the drilling rig down through the drill pipes, and which comes back up again with all the grit that has been drilled loose. The size of the particles of grit is examined; subsequently it is determined with which technique the grit is to be separated from the drilling fluid, so that the pressure on the dome of oil or gas is maintained. As soon as the correct production depth has been achieved, Chem Sur's work is usually finished. The hole can then be cleaned, covered and the piping can be installed. Such activities almost always take place on-site in mobile laboratories.
